Doughlicious Days: A Bread Celebration

Updated: Mar 4

Bread Festival 2023

Yokohama Bread Festival Entrance

Welcome pastry enthusiasts and bakers! Would you like to embark on an expedition through the diverse world of bread? From pretzels and scones to curry bread and fresh loaves, there are vast amounts of goods to discover at this festival!

Without further ado, let's get this dough on the road!

Yokohama Bread Festival

Like the Strawberry Festival, this one is held at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.

It is easily accessible from Nihon-Odori station with only about a 7 to 8-minute walk!

And the stroll to the event is peaceful and picturesque. But be sure to check the weather and bundle up, it can be quite chilly in this area.

Pastries on a table

If there is anything you must know about me, it's that I love pasties! I enjoy making them and eating all different kinds. So when I first learned about this festival, I was determined to discover what's it about.

As soon as I heard of the numerous bakeries attending the festival, I was eagerly looking forward to it. And I can say that I was not disappointed but rather impressed.

Unfortunately, this was my first time attending this festival therefore I did not plan accordingly. I arrived before it started but close to the start time. If you have been to festivals similar to this, you know that arriving 5 or 10 minutes before will end in a pretty long wait.

Upon arrival, I immediately searched for the line to wait in. Thus, the patience game began. It took about an hour to step into the bread buffet. There was a good handful of people ahead of me so lines at the bakeries already began.

If you would like to have more options and be able to go to more bakeries, I suggest arriving early to cut the wait time in half.

Yokohama Bread Festival Second Section

Along with the 50 various bakeries, there is a separate section outside the venue with even more to explore!

Pro-Tip: This section is free to everyone and does not require any tickets to get in.

After purchasing all the pastries to take home, you might feel a bit peckish...

Don't worry, you are just in luck!

You can find several food trucks lined up with benches to sit down and enjoy your day. And if you can, don't forget to buy a souvenir (t-shirt, plushie) to cherish the moment.
